Everyone has all kinds of days; some days are cheerful, some are painful, and others are irritable.
All the feelings we experience are almost always —in some way, shape or form— associated with a person. It could be someone we know or a stranger. Positive feelings are, of course, fantastic and long-term exposure to joy turns into a pleasant mood.
Similarly, being sad, angry, or afraid for extended periods can turn into depressed, grumpy or anxious moods.
In some tragic cases, being in a negative mood frequently turns into an unpleasant personality. Can’t help but feel bad for those poor souls.
As the cause of these feelings is people, they are also the cure.
Everyones' desirable day is cheerful, but how can we add that flavour of joy to a sad or grumpy one?
I have some preset gestures that I've mandated upon myself to do whenever it gets triggered without giving a second thought to how I'm feeling or what mood I'm in —at the moment.
I take pride in saying that I have some of the best friends anyone could ever ask for, and we do this regardless of our current state of mind, where we are, who is watching, or any of that we walk up to each other and hug.
It takes 0 effort, but the satisfaction that we understand how hard things can be and affirmative appreciation to keep on going recharges both of us to strive.
One thing that I do is with my sister. Every time we run over rumble strips, we do the silliest thing, make an "aaaaa" sound, just for fun, and laugh like idiots :)
So, whenever we are on-road, and for random reasons, she's angry with me, and we run over rumble strips, we make the sound and makeup. Somehow, by the time we pronounce five a's, she forgets what made her angry.
Another thing that I do is, when I'm in a bad mood, I get my sister some candies, chocolates, ice cream or yoghurt. Her delight kills whatever was dragging me down, and I can go ahead with my day.
I do this because the only way I know to make myself happy is by improving the mood of the people I care about.
So, what are the silly things you do to uplift your mood?
