Limits.
The give up point.
The only limits that exist are where we decide to give up.
Lately, I've come to realize that limits do exist. These limits indicate our current capacity to do a task or several tasks. I like to call it a “growth indicator”, beyond which all work done adds up and enables you to do more the next time.
People tend to accept their point of exhaustion as their limit and avoid doing it over time, thereby hindering their personal growth.
The best example of this is the Elephant rope analogy.
The rope is physically incapable of holding the elephant, but the chains of its childhood hold it psychologically captive.
Why the elephant won't break free due to 3 main reasons:
It is unaware of its capabilities.
It gave up on breaking free long ago, and
Due to a lack of self-awareness as to how stronger it is now.
The elephant is now strong enough to break chains, but it won't be able to escape a jute rope simply because it gave up and will never try again.
Of course, consistency is the key.
We grow on both conscious & subconscious levels and never stop unless we are unfortunately incapacitated or willingly give up.
If dragging the leg doesn't work, maybe pulling will.
If pulling doesn't work, maybe thrusting will.
If the chain doesn't break, maybe the pole will.
If today you are not strong enough, perhaps, tomorrow you will be.
If it doesn't work today, it might work tomorrow or the day after, but as long as it is possible, it has to work.
You won't know until you try and keep on trying.
